In the quiet village of Mota Sarnaya in Santrampur taluka of Mahisagar district lives 67-year-old Maksudaben Madari, a widow who looks after her two sons and manages a small household through goat rearing and a small piece of land. After her husband’s passing, she had no idea that she was eligible for government support through the Widow Assistance Scheme. Without access to information or guidance, she continued her daily struggles without any financial help.
Her journey toward accessing the scheme began when she attended a service camp organized by Ekta Mahila Sangathan with support from Utthan. There she learned for the first time about the Widow Assistance Scheme and the documents required to apply. Gathering these papers was not easy. Maksudaben had to visit government offices multiple times to get income and widow certificates. Officials often delayed or avoided giving clear responses, and the process tested her patience. Yet, she remained determined to complete it.
With continuous guidance from the Sangathan members, Maksudaben was finally able to prepare her documents and complete the online application. The team helped her at every step, ensuring her form was correctly filled and submitted. Today, she feels a sense of relief and pride knowing that her application has been accepted. For her, this is not just about financial support but about dignity and awareness. Her story shows how timely information and community support can change lives for women who often remain unseen in rural areas.
